Homeowners and landscaping enthusiasts are always searching for the best ways to keep their lawns pristine. The Husqvarna Automower iQ Series offers innovative solutions with cutting-edge wireless technology and various models designed for different yard sizes. This series is reshaping how we approach lawn care. Imagine having the time to enjoy your outdoor space while a robotic mower takes care of the maintenance for you. In this article, we will highlight the unique features of the Husqvarna Automower iQ Series, the four available models, and why you should consider using one of these advanced mowers for your lawn.

Overview of the Husqvarna Automower iQ Series

Husqvarna has been at the forefront of lawn care technology, and the new Automower iQ Series is a prime example. This series boasts features like the use of EPOS technology, cellular navigation*, radar odometry, and the ability to still use a boundary wire if needed. This innovation allows the mowers to work with or without boundary wires, simplifying installation while giving backup options for areas where satellite signal reception could be an issue.

For those of you wondering, these are NOT the NERA series of Automowers available in Europe. Although the iQ Series of Automowers may resemble the NERA series and share several similar features, the Automower iQ Series was specifically designed for the North American market. They include enhancements tailored to regional lawn care needs and addresses common issues found in previous Automower models. The 410iQ, 420iQ, and 440iQ mowers boast a completely redesigned chassis, body, and charging station.

For example, these Automower iQ models sport a new, robust version of front caster wheels that helps the mower make easier transitions from different surfaces such as when crossing a sidewalk or driveway. And it should be noted that these caster wheel assemblies can be removed without opening the mower's chassis. And another huge improvement is that the caster wheel assembly is held on the axle by a threaded nut rather than a push nut.

The revised charging station used by the 410iQ, 420iQ, and 440iQ, has all of the electronics located in the top where the charging contacts are located. This top piece can be easily removed to allow the charging station to stay outdoors during the winter while the top with the electronics is stored indoors.

Model Overview

The Husqvarna Automower iQ Series includes four distinct models, each designed for different lawn sizes and maintenance needs. Here’s a closer look at each model and what they bring to your lawn care regimen.

1. Husqvarna 410iQ

The Husqvarna 410iQ is perfect for lawns up to 1/2 acre. At $2,999.99, this model is an ideal entry point for those wanting to automate their lawn care. With cutting height adjustments from 1 inch to 4 inches, you can easily tailor it to your grass type and growth patterns.

Using AIM Technology, this mower efficiently defines and optimizes work areas. You can schedule mowing times to suit your routine and enjoy a consistently tidy lawn with minimal manual effort.

2. Husqvarna 420iQ

For larger lawns of up to 1 acre, the Husqvarna 420iQ is a robust choice, priced at $3,499.99. Building on the features of the 410iQ, the 420iQ offers increased cutting capacity and the same customization options.

It excels in managing sprawling yards, ensuring efficient navigation around multiple obstacles. For example, if your yard has flower beds, trees, or pathways, the 420iQ can adapt its route to ensure a thorough mowing experience.

Designed for lawns up to 2 acres, the Husqvarna 440iQ comes in at $4,299.99. This model is equipped to handle larger residential properties, providing enhanced cutting power.

Thanks to its strong construction and radar technology, the 440iQ can adapt to various terrains to cover large open lawn areas or complex lawns with obstacles and twists and turns. Whether your property has slight inclines, uneven areas, or is completely flat, this mower maintains consistent performance, ensuring your lawn looks its best regardless of the conditions.

4. Husqvarna 435iQ AWD

If you have challenging landscapes, the Husqvarna 435iQ AWD could be the perfect fit. Suitable for lawns of up to 1 acre and priced at $4,999.99, the 435iQ is an all-wheel-drive model efficiently tackles steep slopes and rough terrain.

While it may share some design aspects with the existing 435X, this AWD version offers one significant enhancement in the form of boundary wireless installation using Hsuqvarna EPOS technology. The 435iQ can be installed to work wirelessly using RTK (GPS) navigation, or can be installed with a boundary wire like the original 435X. But unlike the other iQ Series models the 435iQ is not equipped with the "Support by wire" feature. For instance, if your yard has steep inclines and tough mowing conditions the 435iQ ensures reliable navigation and coverage without any hassle.

Unique Features of the iQ Series

The Husqvarna Automower iQ Series stands out thanks to its numerous features that enhance performance and user experience.

Wireless Technology and Operation

The standout aspect of the iQ Series is its capability to operate without any boundary wires using RTK (GPS) positioning via Husqvarna EPOS. This revolutionary design eliminates the need for lengthy installation processes common with traditional robotic mowers that require a boundary wire to be installed around the entire work area and obstacles.

A common issue with the first generation EPOS Automowers is a loss of RTK signal from the satellites. This sometimes could be remedied by adding another $900 reference station as a repeater. This is not a concern with the 410iQ, 420iQ, and 440iQ series Automowers because they have the "Support by wire" feature that allows use of a boundary wire in areas with bag satellite coverage such as under large trees and and close to tall buildings. In addition to support by wire, the 410iQ, 420iQ, and 440iQ will also have the ability to use 4G cellular* to navigate the work area in areas where satellite coverage is an issue, but cellular service is available.

AIM Technology for Optimized Mowing

Husqvarna AIM Technology is a feature used in Automowers.

A key feature of the iQ Series is its AIM Technology, which is essential for intelligent area optimization. If your yard has various zones that require different care, the Automower iQ can manage it with ease. For instance, specific areas might need shorter grass for play areas while others can thrive with longer blades. This flexibility allows for personalized lawn care tailored to each zone's specific needs.

Aside from not having to install a boundary wire, the next biggest benefit of with the wireless mowing option is that you can choose the mowing pattern of the iQ Automower for each zone. Meaning you could have the the iQ Automower mow diagonal parallel lines in your back yard and a checkerboard pattern in your front lawn.

Enhanced Navigation and Performance

The iQ Series takes navigation to the next level with radar odometry. By accurately detecting its surroundings, the mower skillfully navigates around obstacles and maximizes coverage. This helps the iQ series Automowers to ensure that it cuts the lawn without skipping spots near obstacles. If you have garden decorations or furniture, you won't have to worry about damaged items.

Embrace the Future of Lawn Care

The Husqvarna Automower iQ Series represents a major leap forward in robotic lawn care. With advanced wireless technology, radar navigation, and AIM Technology, these mowers make lawn maintenance both easy and efficient.
